Development and Evaluation of a Locally Designed Solar Integrated Egg Incubator

There is need for subsistence poultry farmers to maximize chick production supply the increasing demand meat. This research developed and evaluated an egg incubator powered by a renewable energy source generated from solar modules. The was incorporated with temperature humidity sensors which measured regulated conditions suitable incubation. direct current (DC) heater, sensor, microcontroller DC fan provided eggs. monitoring Relative Humidity (RH) readings over range of time hatchability rate also evaluated. within chamber ranged 37-38°C error margin +0.1oC while RH between 30-35% +5%. An average 92% obtained evaluation incubator. gave standardized relative values necessary incubation study has shown that could be used successfully power systems good whole period.
